February 2017 Meeting Minutes

Brighton Shares The Harvest

Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

February 13, 2017

The Brighton Shares The Harvest Board meeting was held on February 13, 2017 at 12:15, in the Community Room at the Brighton Armory. Present were Board Members Bill Alsdorf, Jordan Shute, Heidi Storz, Dave Thomas, Sara Wells and Executive Director Linda Young.  Board member Jesse Staley was excused. Also present were guests Susan Heinz and Shari Brodersen.

Bill moved to approve the November 14, 2016 Board meeting minutes. It was seconded and approved.

We reviewed the year-end Financial reports provided by our bookkeeper, Susan Heinz, and there were no questions. Linda will provide Susan with current information about the King Soopers Gift Cards that we have on hand.

We discussed the idea of offering King Soopers gift cards to the participants in the annual United Way fundraising softball tournament, pre-loaded with $2.50, the minimum amount that King Soopers will pre-load onto a card.  We would offer the cards for free, in the hope that since these people are participating in a fund-raiser that benefits local food pantries, they might also be interested in reloading King Soopers gift cards to benefit us. Linda will discuss the logistics of doing this with Cami Osborne, the woman at United Power who organizes these annual tournaments.

Linda reported that that our website support person, Amanda Griffin, has told her that our website is not in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities  Act (it has to do with people who are visually impaired using devices that will read the website out loud). Heidi made a motion that we take a “wait and see” attitude, as we are not likely to be targeted by a lawsuit because (a) we don’t receive any federal funding and (b) we have so few resources. The motion was seconded and approved. Linda will report the Board’s decision back to Amanda.

Linda suggested that we should add photos and short bios about all of our Board members to our website. She will follow up after the meeting with an email requesting specific information and providing examples.

Our next quarterly Board meeting will be on Monday, May 8, 2017, at 11:30. The location has not yet been determined; Heidi volunteered to see if United Power has a room available. Our remaining 2017 meeting dates are as follows:

Monday, May 8, 11:30

Monday, August 14, 11:30

Monday, November 13, 11:30 (Annual Meeting)

The meeting was adjourned at 12:57

Respectfully submitted,

Linda Young, Executive Director
